Crown / 冠
‘Crown / 冠’ -
‘Crown / 冠’ is a temporary installation around a water tower in Kaohsiung Green Park, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. A vibrant pink-coloured textile form hugs the structure of the building 10m above street level. Thirty six conical spikes radiate from the water tank in an explosion of colour.
‘Crown’ is a temporary installation that for a while transforms the entire structure, elevating it from a practical piece of infrastructure into a work of art. The temporary nature of the piece is sympathetic to the natural environment around it but also creates a moment of magic within the city and an urgency to experience this once in a lifetime event.
The title ‘Crown’ is both a noun and a verb - a physical object that elevates the status of the water tower, and the act of celebrating the site.
