Full Circle 2

Lamps

(80m X 10 m)

A full circle of light on the river Kent estuary, from dusk, extinguished by the incoming tide.

Morecambe Bay. Viewable from Blackstone Point, Frith Wood. Arnside

Friday 10th October, Blackstone point, Frith wood, Arnside. From 6-9pm approx.

SD 435 776

Signposted from Arnside

Developing the idea of Full Circle from FRED 07, for Full Circle 2, Paul and Richard will use their knowledge of the same site on the River Kent estuary and install an ellipse of light at dusk that will be extinguished by the incoming tide after sunset.
The site is the same as Full Circle last year, at Blackstone Point, Arnside. No digging is involved. Lights will be placed on the mud during the afternoon. These will be lit at dusk and will short circuit as the tide crosses the apparent  circle. Using the same process of the design as Full Circle last year, the lamps will be placed in an ellipse in order to be perceived as even points of a light round a circle, accounting for perspective from the raised viewpoint on the cliff in Firth Woods. The circle of light will be visible below the distant lights crossing the estuary from Grange over Sands.

NB. Care should be taken approaching and leaving the viewing platform through the wood and along the coastal path and it is strongly advised to bring your own torches to guide you over the uneven ground
