STOP PRESS!

The location of 'Shake Pole' by Richard Box is off J39 (Shap) on the M6, not as stated in the guide. Follow signs for Hardendale (not Shap direction). From A6 and Orton Road, follow directions to M6, cross motorway to Hardendale road (dead-end). Park approx 100m past motorway bridge on side of road - plenty of parking. Follow small reflective signs across fell toward Motorway. Entrance is via a candle-lit tunnel beneath the motorway. Apologies for any confusion this typing error has caused. The 1,000+ florescent tubes beneath the pylons is best viewed shortly after dark. walking boots and a torch are essential!

'Shaped Voids' by Sam Allan was the victim of an attack by vandals at the weekend in Millom and is unlikely to be re-instated. Again, apologies to anyone who has made the journey especially for it.

'Landscape Bubble' by Steve Messam has been postponed until next week due to weather conditions. Revised details will be posted here and available on the Free text alert service.

Adele Prince on tour

This year's marketing artwork has been created by Adele Prince. The theme of this year's event is one of adventure and exploration. using the specially designed map as a starting point, Adele encourages visitors to find their own routes between FRED sites using buses, trains, bicycles or just plain walking the stunning landscape: "Perhaps your journey itself is art, why not take a look at the pattern you have created on the map, or make notes of how many sheep / stiles / walkers / cars you see?"
