FRED - it's an art invasion

Ticket Sculpture

My work takes many forms, often finding a starting point in everyday life: I enjoy looking at our small, unconscious movements and rituals and breaking these down into tiny sequences. I collect instructional diagrams found on everyday items and often look at self-help books and in-flight safety cards. This examination of repetitive ritual has led to explorations in many media: a neon sign showing how to use your chopsticks, a performance looking at how we stand when viewing art, line drawings showing how to eat chips and an interactive website offering an exercise programme for people who don’t want to sweat. For FRED I am creating a series of instructional diagrams showing how to make a sculpture from your Pay-and-Display car park ticket.
